The Crystal Cascades and Glen Ellis Falls are located only a short drive south of Mt. Washington's auto road entrance. Coming in at only a .6 and .4 mile hike each, these are absolute must see falls for anyone traveling through the area!
The Crystal Cascades are the more northern location and can be found just outside the AMC Pinkham visitor center. Parking was tight as many people were still using the trailhead to climb Mt/ Washington. Despite the ongoing health situation we still found the bathrooms open and ice cream for sale! The leaves were all over the trail and made for a beautiful golden hue on this super short hike. We made a quick stop at the river to take a few photos before moving on.
The falls themselves were located on both sides of the bridge crossing the river. Visiting shortly after the rain made for an excellent flow as well. After stopping for several photos though we made the quick trip back and headed south for an even more impressive sight.
The second stop was Glen Ellis Falls, a 64 foot tall waterfall. After parking we headed under the road through a tunnel only to find a stone paved path, stairs and walls along the entire trail. Honestly the entire set up here is super impressive.
There is a little waterfall before the main drop and several falls directly down stream as well but the main show is the 64foot fall. This is such an awesome waterfall I can't over state how much you need to visit if you're in the area. One thing to note is that there are quite a few stairs to descend so just remember you'll have to climb back up them!
