Laurel Lime Ridge | Connecticut

A relaxing day found us exploring Laurel Lime Ridge property, with a trail to one of the best views in southern Connecticut.

Laurel Lime Ridge Property is a small park located on the eastern side of the Naugatuck river. There are multiple places to park but I recommend taking a counter clockwise direction on the trail. Speaking of, there are numerous unmarked side trails here and many people dirt bike so try not to get run over or lost! I would recommend using an app like all trails to avoid any problems navigating.

An old Lime Furnace can be found on the trail. If you proceed in a counter clockwise direction like we did you will find this on your right hand side but it is very easy to pass. There is not much left, with trees growing up through most of it, but the man made stone is hard to miss. Use this as a land mark, as it is about 40% of the way to the view point, immediately after this you will take the trail to your left and head down hill before making the final ascent.

If you choose to continue beyond the vista there isn't much to see while hiking. The confusing side trails continue in great multitude and the area is set up well for dirt bikes, with an entire area named the coliseum on the map. The one notable land mark is an old wrecked car hanging on the side of a cliff. Other than that, most of the hike is up hill and unremarkable.

After our little hike we were going to visit the Farmill river falls but discovered that they are no longer open to the public. Although this cut our day short we decided to stop at the Paul Pawlak River Bypass park on the way home. This half man made, half natural fall is located directly under and over pass but has it's own beauty.

While this was a short and relaxing day we still managed to put some mileage under our boots as we prepare for a return to Acadia, weather permitting, for a major set of hikes!
